PATRICIA IMOGENE RISINGER, 89, of Sullivan, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 8:25 A.M. at Miller's Merry Manor. She was born April 6, 1928 in Shelburn to Clyde & Thelma Clark Adams. Imogene was a homemaker by choice, member of Sullivan First Christian Church, and Missionary Unit #6.
Imogene moved to Detroit in her teens and lived with her sister, Melba, while she worked as an elevator operator and in large department store. After meeting her sister's future brother-in-law, Paul, it was love at first sight. They married on October 4, 1947 and were married for 54 years before his passing. They retired early and spent several years as "snow birds" in Florida.
Imogene was a self-taught and accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothing for her girls including countless costumes for recitals and high school minstrels and musicals. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed many fun times of family meals and shopping trips shared with her "girls". In her later years, her passion was to babysit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and then attending as many sporting events as she could.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Paul Risinger; two sons, Gerald and Charles, who died at childbirth; two brothers, Jerry Adams & Bill Adams; six sisters, Melba Risinger, Leona Moore, Geraldine Peach, Bessie Branner, Joyce Adams, and Mary Ann Hubbard; and one grandson, Jess Bobbitt.
Survivors include her son, Rick (Alisa) Risinger, Fishers; two daughters, Jan (Ian) Bobbitt, Sullivan, and Brenda (Dennis) Jackson of Westfield; 6 grandchildren, Jon (Katie) Bobbitt, Jason (Becky) Bobbitt, Steffanie (Matt) Campbell, Breana (Jason) Love, Dayna Williams, Amy (Phil) Medley; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with her nephew, Danny Risinger of Wadesville, officiating. Private burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to the time of services on Friday, July 21, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sullivan First Christian Church Missionary Unit #6 at PO Box 408, Sullivan, IN 47882.
