Rebecca “Becky” Norris, 79, of Carlisle, went to be with Jesus on August 13, 2026. She was born on July 30, 1947 in Gary, IN. Becky passed peacefully surrounded by her husband of nearly 60 years and her children. Quiet words were spoken, prayers were lifted, and she was lovingly held as she left this world.

Becky is survived by her loving husband, Terry; three children, Lori Hammerbacher of Sullivan, Chris (Christine) Norris of Carlisle, and Debbie (Marty) Hale of Robinson, Illinois; and six grandchildren, Juston Hammerbacher, Auston Padgett, Lincoln Hale, Sophie Hale, Isabella Norris, and Olivia Norris. She is also survived by special friends Robert and Lela Street and Toni Earlywine.

Becky was blessed with a large extended family and many dear friends who were incredibly special to her and whom she considered among life’s greatest treasures.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace “Dick” and Thelma Flynn; her two brothers, Denny and Mark Flynn; and her nephew, Colt Flynn.

Family was at the heart of Becky’s life. She loved bringing everyone together and hosted countless large family gatherings throughout the years. As one gathering would come to an end, she was often already asking, “When can we do this again?” These gatherings were well attended, loud, full of laughter, and—without fail—included far too much food. Becky thrived in the middle of it all. She loved seeing her family together, and she was always smiling.

Becky spent countless hours enjoying her favorite hobby, quilting. Many members of her family have a special quilt that she lovingly made especially for them. Quilts adorned many areas of her home, while her quilting room reflected just how much she loved her craft, with quilts in various stages of completion and yards and yards of beautiful fabric everywhere. She simply loved creating them—and even more, she loved giving them to people who were special to her.

Becky spent her entire working career as a Registered Nurse, serving in the OB Department and later as an educator. One of the greatest joys of her life was having the privilege of assisting in the births of all six of her grandchildren. She treasured that role and the special memories it gave her.

She and Terry also loved attending their grandchildren’s sporting events. Becky was known to cheer loudly from the stands and occasionally question the officials—even when the calls were correct. “How could they do that to her grandchild?” she might exclaim. It was always said with love, good humor, and tremendous pride in her grandchildren.

Traveling was another special part of Terry and Becky’s life together. Each year brought two or three long trips along with several shorter getaways, many of them shared with their dear friends Robert and Lela, with whom they had a very special bond. Together they created countless memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Becky’s life was defined by the people she loved, the lives she touched, the quilts she lovingly created, the memories she made, and the joy she found in bringing people together. Her family and friends will miss her deeply, but they will carry her love, laughter, and countless memories with them always.

Services for Becky were entrusted to Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Visitation is Monday 4:00-8:00. Funeral is Tuesday at 11:00 am.
