Richard Stanley Henry, 83, of Shelburn, went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2019. He was born in Oblong, IL, on October 10, 1935 to Elmer E. Henry and Bernice Irene (Snyder) Henry. He served his country from 1955 to 1958 in the Unites States Army. Richard loved spending time with his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. Family was so important to him. He faithfully got together with his siblings the first Saturday of every month to share a meal, play dominoes and catch up on each others lives. Preceding him in death by his parents, a son Stanley Henry, brothers and sisters Norma Henry, Mack and Carolyn Henry, Patty Hanna, Bruce Henry, Sue and Bill Shoemaker, Roger Henry, Jimmy Henry and a brother in-law Dick Randolph.
On December 24, 1958 he married Nadine Fitts, and they had three children. On July 29, 1988, he married his soul mate Barbara Moore. Through that love he gained five more children. Together Richard and Barbara enjoyed going to flea markets, craft events and auctions. They finished their home with several homemade wooden pieces that they painted and decorated together. He was a very creative man, blessed by God. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Abundant Grace House of Prayer. He and Barbara spent countless hours in their back porch swing looking out over their uniquely landscaped yard.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Henry, his daughters Diana (Terry) Dawson, Connie (Farin) Hill, Teresa (Kevin) Kenmuir and Kelly Shaw; sons Rick Phegley, Kevin (Marilynn) Phegley and Randy (Anita Mae) Phegley; brother Clair (Suzie) Henry, sisters, Eileen Randolph, Judy (Jim) Mann, sisters-in-laws Carol Henry and Diana (Dave) Aten, Sixteen grandchildren, and twenty two great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate his life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tommy Pearison officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Little Flock Cemetery. Military services will be given by Hymera, Shelburn and Sullivan American Legions and the Sullivan VFW.
