The Reverend Richard Simon Salyer, went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2025 in the comfort of his home in Anderson, Indiana. Richard began his life journey on August 19, 1946 in Akron, Ohio. He was one of 7 sons and 3 daughters born to Rev. Anthony and Avis (Deaver) Salyer. The boys were born brothers, but all “chose to be best friends”. Not only were they brothers by birth, but also brothers in Christ.
Richard married his loving wife, Linda Evans and they enjoyed 54 years of life together before her passing in 2022. Richard was a devoted and loving Pastor for over 60 years with The Church of God. His pastoring career led him and his family to various locations all over the United States. His church families became their family, and his passion for leading others to Christ was evident to those he met along life’s way. He was proud to be a Veteran of the United States Army, serving 2 years in Germany.
Awaiting his Heavenly arrival were his wife and parents; siblings, Anthony Salyer Jr., Leland Salyer, John Salyer, Marcella Waddell and Eva Virginia Salyer.
Those here to cherish his memory are his daughters, Paula Keller of Greensburg and Cindy Salyer of Anderson along with a granddaughter, Annalise Keller; brothers, James A. Salyer, David Salyer and Samuel Salyer along with a sister, Rosella Rutledge. Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services will be graveside on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 11:00 am. at Timmons Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Reverend Samuel Salyer will be officiating.
Holmes Memorial Chapel and staff were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
