Robert E. “Bob” Pinkston passed from this life surrounded by the ones he loved, on Sunday, January 25, 2026. He began his life journey on May 22, 1931 in Sullivan, the son of Howard and Esther Ford Pinkston. Bob was a devoted and dedicated family man. He met and married Phyllis Potts in September of 1950, together in 75 years they raised 7 children and enjoyed several grand and great- grandchildren. He was an Army veteran of the 1st Infantry of the United States Army. He was a proud member of the Shelburn American Legion Post #197 and the Sullivan VFW Post #6410.

Bob was a man of pride and dignity, retiring after 30 plus years of service in 1992 with the UMWA. He began his working career as a paperboy, faithfully delivering the Sullivan paper on his bicycle, in all types of weather. He believed in honesty, integrity and the American way. He was a staunch supporter of Union representation for fair and living wages. In his spare time he was an avid coon hunter, raising dogs and enjoying the outdoors. He and Phyllis, together, enjoyed gardening each summer. He loved spending time at the family cabin on the river, enjoying fish fry’s and cooking out with family and friends. His short 94 years with his family was not as numerous as they wished, his passing leaves a large void in the family circle.

He is preceded by his parents; his children, Larry Pinkston and Tudy Kiger (Albert); son in-law, David Miller; daughter in-law, Vicki Pinkston; siblings, Larry Pinkston and Barbara Bryrum.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 75 years, Phyllis Pinkston; children, Donnie Pinkston, Bubby Pinkston, James Pinkston (Marco), Barbara Clark (Bruce) and Kim Miller; several grand, great and great-great grandchildren. Along with several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation and services to celebrate a well lived life, will be on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Holmes Memorial Chapel, with visitation from 11:00 am. until time of service at 1:00pm. with his grandson, Pastor Trevis Pinkston officiating. Sullivan County Honor Guard will present Military Rites. Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Graysville. Indiana.
