Robert Douglas Metheny, 61, of Shelburn passed away on July 22, 2016 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born September 21, 1954 in Sullivan to William Roscoe and Sylvia Irene Pullum Metheny.
Survivors include his wife, of 39 years, Rosemarie Ugoletti Metheny whom he married July 2, 1977, a son Aaron (Emily) Metheny, a daughter Amanda (Clayton) Earley, brothers Jeffrey (Sharlyn) and Andy (Lisa) Metheny, step-mother Betty Metheny and mother-in-law Mary Ugoletti, grandchildren Isabella, Sophia and Sadie Metheny; Audrey, Maggie and Lukas Earley; a godson Rico A. Ugoletti and several nieces and nephews.Preceding him were his parents, brothers Joseph and Mitchell Metheny, and father-in-law Henry Ugoletti.
After working 41 years for Pfizer/Dupont, Bob recently retired May 2016. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid bowler, member of the 700 Bowling Club, a 32 year member of the Sullivan Elks and Sullivan Elks Golf League. Bob coached both baseball and bowling and was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Sullivan. After surviving a successful liver transplant, Bob was able to give back by becoming an organ donor himself.
Visitation for Bob will be Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Holmes Memorial Chapel, in Sullivan, and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Thursday July 28, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sullivan with Father Jeff Read officiating. Interment will follow at Pogue Cemetery in Fairbanks.
