Robert Dean Nicol, 58, of Carlisle, Indiana, passed away in Vincennes, Indiana, on July 24, 2026. He was born in Vincennes on July 17, 1968, to Robert Jack Nicol and Marilyn Jo Owens.

After studying law enforcement at Vincennes University, Robert chose a entrepreneurial path and became a dedicated business owner. Over the years, he owned, operated, and managed several forestry businesses, specializing in timber harvesting, land tract purchases, saw-milling, and timber matting. Most recently, he worked at Green Forest Sawmill LLC, a family owned and operated business that he proudly managed alongside his daughter, Paige.

Robert was a devoted Christian and an active member of the Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute. He was also a Past Master of Carlisle Lodge #3. Deeply invested in his community, Robert spent years supporting and sponsoring local youth teams.

Above all, Robert loved his family. He cherished their time together at rodeos, concerts, and dinners out. On weekends, he loved to unwind by taking long rides on his Harley-Davidson.

He was also well-known for his love of western style, as an avid collector of cowboy boots and cowboy hats.

Robert is survived by his children, Gregory (Jenna) Hay of Sullivan, IN, Matthew (Arika) Nicol of Sullivan, IN, and Paige Nicol (Brian Hussong) of Sullivan, IN. He is also survived by his siblings, Julie (John) Bohnert of Sebring, FL, and Christy Nicol of Bellingham, WA, James (Becky) Nicol of Terre Haute, IN; his beloved grandchildren, Gracelynn and Martin Hay, Rilie, Madison, and Adalynn Nicol, Carter and Emma Hussong and Jacklyn Rose-Nicol; and his niece and nephews, Elizabeth Nicol, Jack Nicol, and David Bedwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jack (Sara) Nicol and Marilyn Jo (Jack W.) Mack, and his nephew, Vance Bedwell.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 4:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. at Holmes Memorial Chapel. Masonic Rites will be at 7:00 pm. Service will be on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow, at Providence Cemetery, Paxton, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation in Robert’s memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
