Robin Overton, age sixty-three, passed away on February 14th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Robin, affectionately known as “Lovey,” entered the gates of Heaven on the Day of Love with his wife of seventeen years, “his Lovey” Colleen and his children by his side.
Robin was born to Kenneth Overton and Joan Elaine Racine on January 24th, 1961 in Evansville, IN. Robin proudly served in the US Navy from 1981-1987, serving on the USS Coral Sea in 1982 and the USS Carl Vinson in 1984. Continuing his commitment to service, Robin began his EMS career in 1988 as a Basic EMT, eventually earning his paramedic license in 1992. From 1988-2023 he worked with Halter Smith Ambulance, Sullivan County Ambulance, Knox County EMS, and Daviess County Ambulance.
Robin wrote and later published a novel, Belaquin, in 2007. Also a fiercely talented artist known professionally as The Black and White Guy, Robin traveled the world exhibiting his artwork at various pop culture conventions. As a result, he developed strong and lasting friendships, often remarking on how blessed he was to meet and connect with people from all over the world. Robin saved lives everyday; intentionally through his work as a paramedic and inadvertently with his endless love, kindness, and ability to talk to anyone as if he had known them for ages. His caring nature and giant personality were always on display. He loved history, was fascinated by castles and the Titanic, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered fondly for his towering stature, bright smile, and his ability to fix any problem with a bone crushing hug.
Preceding him in death are his mother, Joan and his father-in-law, Larry A. Hayes. He is survived by his wife Colleen, his father Kenneth Overton, his children Kelsey (Connor) Sullivan, Dylan (Carolyn) Boone, Melinda (Grayson) Taylor, and Rick (Tia) Overton. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren Dean and Lyla Sullivan, Dawson and Addylan Boone, Luke and Ryleigh Taylor, Rilan, Gavin, Ava and Braven Overton, brother Scott (Jeannie) Overton, sister Cally (Sam) Miller and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
