Ruth Jeanette (Robbins) Murphy, 93, of Sullivan passed away on September 27, 2016 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born in Sullivan County on August 16, 1923 to Lexie O Robbins and Elsie (Hill) Robbins. Ruth was a wife, mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother. She was a Librarian, Substitute Teacher, Secretary, Bank Teller, and Co-Owner of the Family Business, Murphy's Hardware. Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Sullivan High School, a member of St. Mary's Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, Friday Afternoon Club, Daughters of American Revolution, Past President and a member of Sullivan County Extension Homemakers, Past President and member of Village Homemakers Club, Past President and member of St. Pius Knights of Columbus Guild, Treasurer and member of St. Agnes Academy Mothers Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maurice Francis Murphy.

Survivors include a daughter Maureen Murphy Buskirk, two sons Michael (Deborah) Murphy of Indianapolis, Maurice J. Murphy Sr. of Maryland, nine grandchildren Michael J. (Amanda) Murphy, Maurice (Desiree) Joseph, Christopher (Angelica) Murphy, Angela Murphy (Ryan Shilow), Melissa Ann (Alan) Gharib, Michaela Maureen Murphy, George A Buskirk IV, Anne (Mark) Bailey, Bradley (Nadja) Buskirk, and nine great grandchildren; Owen Murphy, Phoenix Murphy, Annabelle Murphy, Julianna Murphy, Ryan Shilow Jr., Murphy McKeague Buskirk, George A Buskirk V, Lillian Ruth Buskirk, Beau Robert Bailey.

Services will be at 10:30 am on Monday October 3, 2016 at St. Mary Church with Fr. David Hellman officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6:00 p.m. at The Holmes Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery. The Family suggest that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
