Ruth Roe, 80, of Sullivan formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday February 1, 2014 at Breckenridge Health and Rehab. She was born in Hymera on September 13, 1933 to Delbert and Opal (Mahan) Palmer. She was a 1951 graduate of Hymera High School, was a homemaker, a member of Shelburn First Baptist Church, past president of Sullivan County Rite to Life, spokesperson for Relay for Life, and was the co-owner of The Cedar Room Café in Hutsonville. She loved to dance, sing and had enjoyed her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Maurice Roe, brother Norman Palmer, and a granddaughter Miranda Roe.
Survivors include her son Gary (Robin) Roe of Farmersburg, daughter Alice Marie (Greg) Cox of Sullivan, seven grandchildren Gary Roe, Corey Roe, Kenneth Roe, of TX, Trent Cox, Camil Catlin, of Sullivan, Erin Bennett of CA, and eighteen great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 4, 2014 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bill Sam Phegley officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at the Knights of Pythies Cemetery in Hymera.
