Carlisle, Sarah Alice Ready Hall passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Petersburg Golden Living Center. She was born on July 8, 1919, near Decker, IN to Ira and Orpha Hobson Ready. She was a long time member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Alice was named after her two grandmothers, Sarah Perry Ready and Alice Crawford Hobson. She married Cecil J. Hall in 1938. She was a very special person; she loved to bake cookies and food to share with kids or anyone in need. She loved her flower garden and shared starts and bulbs of her special varieties to anyone who loved them too. Alice owned a grocery store in Carlisle at one time, worked for several years in the Carlisle School cafeteria as head cook. Alice was loved by her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Larry Hall, a brother Max Ready, and granddaughter Laura Hall. Survivors are her son Wayne (Dede) Hall, a daughter in-law Joanna Hall, two brothers John Ready of Bloomington, and Dale Ready of Princeton, four sisters, Patty Hardin of Princeton, Eva Knotts, Mary Ann Horton and Faye Walters all of Carlisle, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan, IN., with Rev. Mike Irvine officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00am until time of service. The family asked in lieu of flowers donations may be made the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in Oddfellows Cemetery.
