Scott Junior Beard, joined in with the Heavenly choir on Thursday, May 15, 2025 with his loving family at his side. Scott began his life journey on February 11,1955 in Decker Indiana as the son of Herschel Jr. and Shirley Beard. He graduated high school in 1973, where he was an outstanding athlete. In 1974 his love of music enabled him to attend the 2 month summer program at the J.D. Summer, Stamps and Blackwood Brothers, Summer school, at Murray State University. Growing up in a Christian home, gospel music was a huge part of life. His love for music continued into adulthood, he was an avid storyteller, pop singer and entrepreneur. In 1978 attended the John Davidson School of Music.

In 1976 he married his childhood friend, and high school sweetheart, Penny Ellerman. In 1979 as his music career blossomed, performing in Las Vegas was a highlight of his life. It was while in Las Vegas he first became ill.  After his diagnosis, he and Penny purchased a farm in Sullivan County and made it their home. They began fostering children in need, in return they were given “Blessings” beyond measure. The love and priceless time spent with each child was life changing for both Scott and Penny.

Scott was known to all who encountered him, outgoing, jovial, loving and caring made him an outstanding Son,Husband, Dado, Grandfather and Brother.  He never met a stranger and never left you without a smile. Family, faith, hard work and determination were what made Scott who he was. His passing will leave a void in the lives of his loved ones.

Those awaiting his arrival at Heavens gates were his father, Herschel E. Beard Jr., daughter, Nichole Beard Elmore along with a great grandchild.
