Shannon Kay Orman, beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and music. Born November 19, 1968, in Greencastle, Indiana, Shannon touched countless lives with her radiant spirit and genuine warmth.
Throughout her life, Shannon lived with infectious joy and an open heart. Growing up in Indiana, she developed into a woman whose energy could light up any room. She never met a stranger, making friends everywhere she went. To Shannon, every encounter was an opportunity for connection. Her love for her family was immense and unwavering—she cherished every moment spent together, always putting her loved ones above all else.
Shannon’s professional dedication shone through her service at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. Her hard work and compassion were evident in all she did, and her colleagues admired her steadfast commitment to justice and community.
Yet it was Shannon’s love of music that often drew them in. A gifted singer, her voice graced the stage at none other than the Grand Ole Opry. Even in difficult times, she found ways to bring comfort and light—singing to cancer patients while both waited together for their appointments, Shannon believed in lifting spirits wherever she could.
Shannon had a zest for life and a multitude of passions. She delighted in singing at home and on the road, especially enjoying songs by Bruno Mars and Mariah Carey. She was an avid shopper, always excited to find a new pair of shoes or simply browse for the fun of it. Travel called to her adventurous side; she felt her spirit soar when surrounded by new sights. Sunflowers and butterflies, sweet tea on a warm afternoon, and the restorative power of a good nap—all these brought Shannon simple joys she cherished. Her love extended to her two dogs, Theo and Elvis, faithful companions who brightened her days.
Central to everything was her deep faith and belief in the Lord Jesus, which anchored her through every season of life and inspired her to embrace each day with hope. Those who knew Shannon will remember that her most important mission was always her family. The bonds she shared with each member were remarkably strong, and she made sure everyone felt loved, valued, and supported.
Shannon is survived by her devoted husband Dylan Orman, her loving father Chris Svendsen and step-mother Dolores Svendsen, and her cherished children: Andrea Richardson (Anthony), Sarah Cronic, and Hannah Lockard (Joshua). She leaves her memory in the hearts of her brother Jonathan Bilyeu and her sister Jessica Kirby (Chris). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jasmine Richardson, Olive Grimes, Zoey Smith, Jesse Cronic, Jeremy Cronic, Karley Cronic, Lincoln Smith, Caroline Lockard, Malcom Lockard, and Clementine Lockard, each of whom she adored deeply.
Shannon was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sharon Lane.
Family and friends will gather to honor Shannon’s remarkable life at Holmes Memorial Chapel, for visitation on July 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Holmes Memorial Chapel on July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
