Listen to Obituary

Shirley Ann Plowman, 73, of Sullivan, Indiana stepped into eternal life, on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Union Hospital. She began her life journey on September 1,1952 in Sullivan County. She was one of four children born to the late Marion and Mary Criss. Shirley was a custodian for Southwest School Corporation at Sullivan High School, and was a dedicated employee for Kroger Grocery Store in Indianapolis for many years.

Shirley was a naturalist at heart, who appreciated everything nature had to offer. Save the Bees was one of the many causes she advocated for. She was also a devoted supporter of Arbor Day Foundation. Her generous heart and legacy of caring, was carried on in her death, by her decision to donate life, by being an organ donor herself. Her true love was her family, she was a dedicated, loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister and Aunt. Her most precious time was spent making memories, attending parades, 4th of July gatherings and family functions with the ones she loved. She was an avid reader in her spare time, immersing herself in the story at hand. Her love and legacy will be forever carried in the hearts of those she loved so deeply.

Those preceding her are her parents; siblings, Steve Criss and Billie Burns.

Her family here to cherish her memory are her children, Mark Stevens (Kris), Chris Stevens and Angela Short (Robert); sister, Karen Wright; grandchildren, Brett Stevens, Alecia Stevens, Ben Short, Emma Short, Josie Short, Ranger Short and Ryland Short; 7 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Cremation was chosen with a private celebration at a later date.
