Virginia “Jo” Rose Pirtle McCammon, 75, of Sullivan, IN. slipped softly into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Jo was born in Sullivan County on June 10,1949. She was one of 10 children of John “J.B.” and Flora (Bedwell) Pirtle. Jo married Clem McCammon in September of 1967. Together they farmed and enjoyed life.
Jo enjoyed attending The Church of God in Shelburn in her teen years with her family. While she had many hobbies, most of all she loved working the family farm. When she had some time to herself and was not out in the fields, you could be sure to find her shopping, going to festivals, mushroom hunting, and spending precious moments with her nieces and nephews.
Jo was a loving, kind hearted and funny person. Her family retained a bond that many families lose in adulthood. The positive family bond that “J.B.” and “Porky” instilled in the family still remains unbroken.
Jo is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Bobby Pirtle and Gloria Jean Cooper, nephews, Johnny Akers, Kyle Arnett along with brother in law, Paul Walters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, John Pirtle, Bill (Rosetta) Pirtle, Jim (Robin) Pirtle, Raymond Pirtle, sisters, Mable Ann Walters, Mary (Dwayne) Collins, and Sandy (Terry) Arnett, as well as several nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
Visitation will be at Holmes Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 9th, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with funeral services following immediately at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Jason Jones will be officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery, in Paxton Indiana.
