Walter Akers

Walter Akers, 90, of Shelburn passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Gibson Hospice. He was born in Sullivan County on March 23, 1930 to Lex Akers Sr. and Lizzie (McCammon) Akers. Preceding him in death are his parents, his wives Mary Ernestine (Burnett) Akers, Lola (Bush) Akers and a daughter Kathy Kemper.

Survivors include his best friend and companion Jeanne Hall, sons Wally Akers, Jeff Akers, Randy Akers, daughters Susie Starkey, Toni Black, Vickie Brown, Terri Akers, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Shad Akers officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday 7:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Griffith IN.
