Walter "Walt" A. Cox, 81, of Sullivan passed away on Tuesday July 28, 2015 in Millers Merry Manor. He was born on July 5, 1934 in Sullivan County to Russell and Cora May Huff Cox. Walt was a farmer most all his life. In his later years he enjoyed wood working, and owned Walt's Wood Shop. Walt also enjoyed mowing, fishing, riding his motorcycle, beautiful sunsets, and helping anyone in need. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Shirley Ann Cox whom he married June 19, 1955, infant daughter Melanie Ann Cox, three brothers, Max Eugene, Leon, Jerry Cox and a sister Wilma Gallian.
Survivors include his son Mark (Kim) Cox of Sullivan, a daughter Robin (Brent) Carty of Graysville, brothers Bill (Ann) Cox of Graysville, Gerald (Bev) Cox of Robinson IL, Grandchildren Mariah Swan, Stephanie Bone, Stephen Cox, Andrea Cox, Brandon Carty, and seven great grandchildren,
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 31, 2015 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dale Wise officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. The family suggest that if friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan Humane Shelter or the First Christian Church Youth Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
