Walter Lloyd Lewis, Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 66, surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 11:42 am at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana.
He was born April 17, 1950 in Sullivan to Walter Lloyd Lewis, Sr. and Lucy Irene Strange Lewis. Walter had worked for General Mills (Pillsbury) for 43 years, recently retiring June 2016.
Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved spending time with his grandkids and attending their ballgames. He enjoyed traveling to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier Park, Banff, and Alberta, Canada. Walter and his wife, Nancy, enjoyed hiking during their travels. He was an avid fisherman who loved to fish Jenny Lake and Woman Lake Lodge in Deer Falls, Ontario, Canada.
Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers, Tony and Steve, and two sisters, Brenda and Linda Lewis.
Walter is survived by his wife Nancy McDaniel, whom he married September 6, 1969. His sons, Kevin (Michelle) Lewis of Pleasantville, Indiana and Craig (Chanda) Lewis of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Grandchildren Ben Lewis, Hannah Lewis, Ethan Lewis, and Lily Lewis. Step-grandchildren, Ashlee Horton and Courtney Horton, brothers, Jeff Lewis of Sullivan, Chris Lewis of Shelburn, and Bill (Jan) Lewis of Minnesota, Sister JoAnn (Auggie) Martin of Sullivan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Holmes Memorial Chapel on July 7, 2016 from 11:00 am until 2:00pm with services at 2:00pm. Pastor Norman Santus officiating.
