Wanita L. Hughes Ashby, 93, of Sullivan passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Millers Merry Manor. She was born in Sullivan, on December 20, 1920 to Emerson and Cecil Rooksberry Correll. She was a 1938 graduate of Sullivan High School, married William R. Ashby, was a homemaker, mother and was employed at the Elks Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Benjamin Correll, Thomas Hughes, Jack Hughes, sister Eileen Thomas, two grandchildren Julie Scott and John Ashby.

Survivors include three sons Jack R Hughes of California, William (Janet) Ashby of Terre Haute, Richard (Sandy) Ashby of Farmersburg, a daughter Sandra (Jerry) Cooley of Terre Haute, a brother Richard Hughes of Indianapolis, four grandchildren Jeff Dudley, Debby Holcomb, Angela White, and Kimberly Smith and several great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 in Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan, IN., at 1:00 p.m. with Kevin Beard officiating. Services have been entrusted to Holmes Memorial Chapel.
