Wesley Eugene "Gene" Lewis, 69 of Shelburn passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Shelburn, Indiana to Robert L. Lewis and Ruth Lucille Adams Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ed Lewis, and Tim Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Diana Schmidt Lewis, daughters Brandi Ward (David) of Shelburn, Cathy Wells (Kenny) of Gas City, Tammy Nelson Lewis of New Castle, two sons, Bob Lewis of Shelburn, and Mike Lewis (Jeri) of New Castle. One brother, David Lewis of Robinson, Illinois and one sister Penny Irwin (Bill) of Shelburn. Six grandchildren, Allison Ward, David Ward Jr., Bobby Lewis, all of Shelburn, Chase Booe of Bloomington, Colton Booe of Greencastle, Kayla Greene Lewis of Florida. Mother in law, June Schmidt of Shelburn, and father in law, Gene and Patsy Schmidt of Jasper, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews . Services for Gene will be on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at The Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Norman Santus officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Little Flock Cemetery in Shelburn, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to help offset final expenses. Envelopes will be made available at Holmes Memorial Chapel.
