William J "Bill" Cardinal

William J. “Bill” Cardinal, 95, of Sullivan, formerly of Oaktown, passed peacefully onto his Heavenly home, on Wednesday, October 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Bill entered this life on May 27, 1929 in Vincennes Indiana, the son of William and Gussina Doll Cardinal. He married the love of his life, Margaret Bland on May 27,1950. Together they worked side by side and lovingly raised their family, celebrating 74 years together.

Bill was a loving husband, father, brother and Poppie. A well respected and well known lifetime farmer. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time on the river and golfing. He and Margaret wintered in Florida with friend's for 50 years, enjoying the warm winters and friendships of many. They were also avid square dancers. If you knew Bill, you knew he had a keen sense of humor and was an immense jokester. He loved making you laugh and was always engaging in a prank. His love, charm and life of the party personality will be eternally remembered and missed.

Preceding him are his parents, a son Steve Cardinal; siblings, Marie (John) Hayes, Jean (Bill) Shutter and brother in-law, John Lemme.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret Bland Cardinal; children, Jerry (Susie) Cardinal, Kimbo (Tammy) Cardinal and Anita Joslin Rex; daughter in-law, Monna Cardinal along with a sister, Rudy Lemme; grandchildren, Christina Schwartz, Marcie Hartzburg, Brian Cardinal,Brandon Cardinal, Brooks Cardinal, Daniel Cardinal and Alissa Holt; 19 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great children.

Graveside services will be held on  Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm. at Center Ridge Cemetery with Pastor, Mike Rotman officiating. Visitation will be at Holmes Memorial Chapel from 11:00 am untill 11:45.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Bills memory to the Sullivan County Humane Society, 2425 North Section Street, Sullivan IN. 47882
