William Brian Carty

April 8, 1956 — May 31, 2024

Sullivan

William Brian Carty, 68, of Sullivan was eternally reunited with his twin brother, Brent, on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Brian began his life journey on April 8, 1956, one of 5 children of William and Barbara Brown Carty. Brian was a 1974 graduate of Sullivan High School and went on to ISU for his Masters Degree in Education. Brian’s passion was teaching. He enjoyed teaching his 5th grade students about Science. For 25 years, he was the coordinator of the science fair at Dixie Bee Elementary, where he shared his passion for learning, while proving learning is fun. He had the privilege of  teaching 3 generations before his retirement. His students loved him and he loved his students. His kindness and selfless heart was evident in all he touched and all he came into contact with.

Brian, embodied the love of Christ. His professionalism, reliability and integrity were evident in his everyday life. He was a humble man who put all others before himself. He was a lifetime member of the Sullivan First Christian Church, where he proudly served as A Deacon. Whether Brian was at church, home or work he always offered a helping hand.  His passing will be a great  void in the life of his family and friends.

Those awaiting his Heavenly arrival were his Dad, William Carty and twin brother, Brent Carty.

Those left to cherish his memory are his Mother, Barbara Carty along with siblings, Ann Dalton (Rex), Larry Carty (Karen), Karen Pigg (Randy) and sister in-law, Robin Carty with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his beloved cats.
