William Earl Burr, 91, a long time resident of Carlisle, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, June 21,2025 at The Waters of Sullivan.Bill began his life journey on February 6,1934 in East Alton, Illinois. Born the son of the late William and Helen Clark Burr. He was a 1952 graduate of Oaktown High School. On September 3, 1954 he married his lifetime partner, Nancy Kay Snyder. They were blessed with 70 years of living life hand in hand, raising their 2 children and enjoying their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Bill was retired from IBEW #725, a longtime member of the Carlisle Christian Church, and also the Carlisle Odd Fellows Lodge #50.
Bill was first and foremost a man of faith that served the Lord and his family well. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that was in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Bruce Eugene Burr in 1957, along with his brother, Kenny Burr.
Those here to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nancy Burr; children, Doug Burr ( Tammy) and Sue Chagnon; siblings, Ed Burr (Becky) of Chesapeake, VA., Carol Beaman ( Larry) Oaktown and Ellen Lee (Mike) Vincennes, IN.; grandchildren, Alyssa (Eamon), Mikaela (Dylan), Jorden (Katie), Trisha (Steven), Kelsey (Michael) and Jayden (Alex); 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Along with several extended family and friends.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held at a later date.
Holmes Memorial Chapel and staff were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
