William J. Ferree died peacefully on August 12th at The Waters in Sullivan, with his family by his side. He was born on February 9, 1937. His parents were Raymond and Bernice Bragdon Ferree. He graduated from Graysville High School class of 1955. Upon graduation he joined the Navel Reserves. He married Lovinia Wible Ferree on November 8, 1959. They were blessed with 3 children, Angela Truccano, Mitchell (Amber) Ferree, Raymond (Cindy) Ferree. He also was able to enjoy 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He led a full life and expressed that very clearly just a few days ago. He said life had been perfect and that he had no regrets. His life was primarily filled with family, farm and his Turman Twp. community. He was a lifelong farmer, where he worked alongside his father and then his sons and grandsons. He took great pride in his John Deere tractors and cattle.

Along with the farm, he thoroughly enjoyed his community. He was involved in numerous boards and committees. He served on the SWSC school board, Farm Credit board of directors, Sullivan County Credit Union board, Island Levee board and White River Valley Feeder board. The Graysville Alumni banquet was always a highlight of his year. He was a very avid supporter of 4H. He announced many events at the fair and was the voice of the swine show for over 50 years. He enjoyed music, only his kind of music.

The farm and his community were important pieces of his life, but it was his family that was the centerpiece of his life. He genuinely enjoyed his kids and his wife. He sought perfection and expected it. At the end of the day, it was his relationship with his wife that endured. They experienced great success, friendship and spent an enormous amount of time together. He recalls many a long day in the fields and coming home to find Lovinia on the couch waiting on him to come home. They simply enjoyed one another.

He is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Andrea, sisters, Lydall Hunnings and Charmion Crouch and son in-law Norman Truccano.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, and his children, Angela Truccano, Mitchell (Amber) Ferree and Raymond (Cindy) Ferree. His eight grandchildren, Grant Truccano, William (Heather) Ferree, Alexander (Kirstin) Truccano, Ross (Kylee) Ferree, Evan Ferree, Hayley Ferree, Houston Ferree and Mercedes Ferree and 5 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Kara, Ethan and Layla Ferree and Cassandra Truccano.

He was fortunate to have kept his mental facilities up until his final day. His last bit of advice was to live life with no regrets, pursue it to the fullest and don’t look back, it simply goes too fast.

A visitation to celebrate a life well lived will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Holmes Memorial Chapel from 4:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. as well as Sunday August 17, 2025 from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. with Pastor Eddie Hays officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
