Winifred E. "Wini" Woodward, 89, of Terre Haute and formerly of Carlisle died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday at her residence. The 1937 graduate of Perrysville High School was born November 30, 1919 in Milwaukee, WI to Milton Thompson and Beatrice Rogers Thompson. She was a graduate of Purdue University were she was a member of the President's Council. She was co-owner of the Middlefork Farm in Carlisle and the Winwood Farm in Vermilion County, IL. She was a former home economics teacher in Bluffton, IN and an active member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Carlisle Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, the Sullivan County Farm Bureau, the DAR and she loved to cook, mow yards, raise gardens, flowers and trees. Wini, and her husband traveled extensively all over the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Great Britton, Scandinivia, Canada and Mexico and she was an avid boater. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of sixty seven years Ralph Mason Woodward of Terre Haute whom she married December 24, 1941, one son S. Lee (Priscilla) Woodward of Denver, CO, two daughters Sylvia (Jerry) Coleman of Carlisle and Sherrill (Darryl) Painter of Livingston, TX, one sister Juanita Strain of Dumont, NJ, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and other relatives.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Carlisle First United Methodist Church with Rev. Marilyn Cougar officiating. Burial will be in the Carlisle Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with Eastern Star services at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Carlisle First United Methodist Church.
