Betty Jane (Stearley-Boles) Grubaugh, was granted her “Angel” wings, Monday March 6, 2023 at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was born in Sullivan, IN to Fred and Henrietta Stearley, on November 25, 1930. Due to her Mothers passing she was raised lovingly by John Davis and Chloe Edith Boles, where she was a cherished member of the family. She attended Sullivan High school and was a member of the 1948 class. She married Harold (Pete) Grubaugh on April 14, 1947. Betty worked for many years for Gossard’s garment factory, until its closing, then went on to be a private caregiver. She was a long time member of Tree of Life Church, in Hutsonville IL. and the Hendricks County Homemakers club. Betty loved to take care of others and that she did. She and her daughter Brenda were always on the go. She raised a bonus son, and cherished her grand, great, great great, nieces, and nephews until her passing.
Family left to cherish her memory are her bonus son, Ronnie Moore; special granddaughter, Amber (Paul Lockard) Westerkamm, of whom she raised; a special great granddaughter, Lacey and (Travis) Snapp also whom she helped raise and the apple of her eye Maddox Joe of which she had a loving deep bond with, also surviving are; granddaughters Tia (Jerry) Roessler, Melissa (Jeff) Garrett Dicks and Michelle Garrett Gill, along with grandson, Shad (Terri) Pounds also several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and great great great grandchildren, and several treasured nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold (Pete); daughters, Brenda Grubaugh and Janice Garrett (Micheal); sisters, Becky Shyrock her twin, Jaunita (Charles) Reid, Ruby Bonham, and Maxine Stearley; brothers, Red (Janace) Boles, Hugh Lowry, Robert (Viola) Boles, Floyd, Lloyd, Fred Earl, Bill and Tom Stearley along with grandson, Dirk Pounds.
Services will be at 1:00 pm. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Decker officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Betty will be laid to rest with her husband Pete and fur baby of 14 years Precious at Center Ridge cemetery.
