Obituary
Carter Gobin Phegley, 83, Carlisle passed away on Sunday May 28, 2023 with his family by his side.
He was born on January 2, 1940, in Merom, Indiana to Clarence Harold and Grace F. Phegley. He graduated from Merom High School in 1957. He married Grace Louise Robbins in January of 1959. He was in the Masons, Scottish Rites, The Elks, served on the SCCH board, county commissioner for several years, and was Soil and Water Conservation Farmer of the year in 1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Frances Robertson, his nephew Michael Robertson.
Survivors include his wife Grace Louise Phegley, his daughters Julie (Larry) Scripp of Fishers, Carta Judson (Steve) of Merom. One grandson Brock Alan Landis. Three Granddaughters Chelsey Ann Nutt, Taylor Nichole Scripp and Kiersey Lanae Turner. Great Grandchildren, Boyd Landis, Brooklyn Landis, Harper Nutt, Hudson Nutt, Carter Turner and Cooper Turner.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 3, 2023 at Holmes Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be on Friday June 2, from 4-8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations may be made to the Sullivan County 4H Council, 1301 E County Rd 75 N, Sullivan, IN 47882
