Catherine “Cathy” Brannen, 70, of Farmersburg passed away at Harrison’s Crossing in Terre Haute on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born on December 3, 1951 in Terre Haute to Edward Cleghorn and Dorothy (Jones) Cleghorn.
Cathy was a 1970 graduate of Garfield High School. She married the love of her life, John Thomas “Tom” Brannen on April 22, 1972. Cathy became a loving mother and grandmother. Cathy spent many years working at Columbia House and had a passion for golfing. She played in the women’s golf league at Idle Creek, was a member of the Sullivan VFW Auxiliary Post 2459, and enjoyed being outdoors, especially taking care of her yard. She was an avid music lover. Family was most important to her. You could always count on her to be at track meets and softball games of her granddaughters, and sharing time with her family at Sullivan Park and Lake.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Tom Brannen, in 2007, her step-father, Robert Webb, and her brother, George Cleghorn.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Webb, her daughters, Jennifer (Paul) Majors of Terre Haute, Kelly (Nick) Hunckler of Bloomington, a brother Fred (Cathy) Cleghorn, step-brother Randy Webb, step-sister, Madama Keltz, grandchildren Allison Solesky, Lauren Majors, and Eryan Matveeva, and other extended family and close friends.
Family and friends will celebrate her life between 11:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Holmes Memorial Chapel located at 642 West Silver Street in Sullivan. Private burial will be at a later date in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Brazil. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center, 7519 Beechwood Centre Road 500 Avon, IN 46123.
