Charles Mason Obituary

Charles (Charlie) Mason passed away on October 1, 2021 at home surrounded by loving family after a long chronic illness. Charlie was born June 22, 1949 to William and Violet Mason. He married the love of his life, Lisa Meier, on May 23, 1998. He proudly served 29 years on the Sullivan City Police Department and retired as a Detective and Assistant Chief of Police. He was proud to have worked with the Indiana State Police Drug Task Force with his K9 partner Dandy. Charlie also drove a school bus for the Southwest School Corporation for 30 years before retiring.

Charlie was a beloved husband, a devoted dad, and a very proud Papaw and Uncle. He enjoyed working outside and spending time with his grand kids, great nieces & nephews, and his two dogs Lucy and Grace. Charlie enjoyed watching his cowboy shows, listening to gospel hymns and hearing the Word of God.

Those who went before him include his parents William and Violet Mason; mother in law Beulah Meier; 3 brothers, infant twins, Ezra and Ira Mason and Donald Mason; 5 sisters, Anna Lea Fisk, Floris Swan, Nina Lichte, Kay Rosebraugh, and Betty Brock; and special Great Niece Teara Lynn Baker.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Lisa Mason of Sullivan, IN; 2 sons Darin Mason (Brenda) of Sumner, IL, Chad Mason (Danita) of Spring Branch, TX; 3 daughters Shannon Abel (Greg) of Freedom, IN, Annissa Mason of Freedom, IN, and Kristen Pfaff (Logan) of Shelburn, IN; 13 Grandchildren, and several Great Grandchildren; 2 brothers Don McIntosh of Spring Branch, TX and John Mason (Candy) of Sullivan, IN; 1 sister Becky Ring of Sullivan, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at Holmes Memorial Chapel

In lieu of Flowers, Charlie requested that you make donations to Riley Children’s Hospital and The Ronald McDonald House.
