Cheryl (Means) Johnson

Cheryl Johnson, 76, of Sullivan slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus just as she always prayed, on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Breckenridge Commons in Sullivan.

Cheryl was born in Terre Haute IN, to Warren and Helen (Chapman) Means, on October 5, 1946. She was a 1964 graduate of North Central High School. After graduation, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at GTE. She was very strong in her faith and loved to read her Bible and made it a point to write down a scripture everyday. She loved many things including scrapbooking, and could be found singing hymns at church. The one thing she enjoyed the most was time spent with family and friends. She especially loved any opportunity to watch and cheer for her children and grandchildren when they were playing sports.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Dale Means.

Family left to cherish her memory are her Son Michael Johnson, Daughters, Katrina Weil, and Kari Stein (Rick), a Brother Rick Means (Connie), Sisters Sheila Granby (John), Phyllis McCowen (Richard), and Dixie Means, Grandchildren, Justin Russell (Linda), Taryn Summers (Michael), Jordan Johnson (Kendra), Riley Johnson, Alex Stein (Lindsey), and Mallorie McDurmon (Austin), Great-grandchildren Calvin Russell, Simon Russell, Archie Russell, Kendal Summers, Kade Summers, Adalynn Johnson, and Layla Ann Stein, as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Services will be on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with pastor    Norman Santus officiating at Holmes Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. She will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg.
