David Bright Obituary

Rev. David Leslie Bright, 70, passed away peacefully in his home on June 6, 2023, surrounded by his family.

He was born December 18, 1952 in Anderson, Indiana to Verle and Mildred Bright. He was the youngest of three children. He was graduated from Frankton High School and Boyce Bible College, was a veteran of the United States Navy and  served as a Southern Baptist minister for 38 years.

He was a retiree of the Southwest School Corporation, where he worked as an aide and enjoyed helping in various capacities at sporting events for several years. He was active in the Sullivan County Clergy Association and pastored churches in Shelburn and Sullivan, including Northwood Baptist Church in Sullivan, his church of 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth and Gene Bright; and a sister-in-law, Mary.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; one son, Evan; one daughter, Lesley; one daughter-in-law, Rachel Barnhart; one granddaughter, Callihan Barnhart; one sister-in-law, Shirley Voss; two nieces, Yolanda Bradfield and Rhonda Sample; several nieces and nephews, and various other relatives. 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, at Holmes Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, June 11, at Holmes Memorial Chapel from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday, June 12 from 10 a.m. until the start of services. Burial will follow at Center Ridge Cemetery.
