Dorothy Elaine (Richmond) Hale

Dorthy Elaine (Richmond) Hale, 76, of Plesantville, passed away on January 29, 2020 at Sullivan County Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 4, 1944 to Kennith Richmond and Mabel (Spaulding) Richmond. She was a 1962 graduate of Sullivan High School. Dorothy received a Batchelor of Science Degree from Indiana State University, in Fine Arts and Interior Design. She worked first as a commercial artist for Industrial Research, a publishing house for two scientific magazines in Beverly Shores IN., before returning to college to get a Teaching License. She taught Art in Sullivan and Portage IN., before marrying her husband, David Hale, in 1972. She ran an Antique Shop in Sullivan and Carlisle for many years and did Antique shows for many years in Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and Indiana. She was a member of the Sullivan Art Guild and the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jerry Richmond. 

Survivors include two daughters, Kim Deykes of Bloomfield and Melissa Hauser of Hampshire IL., her husband David Hale of Plesantville, five grandchildren, Dillean Delph, Piper Deykes, Noah, Chloe and Harrison Hauser, (Triplets) a brother Jim Richmond of TX. 

Services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday February 1, 2020 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Buford Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, south of Dugger. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Community Kitchen Fund, PO Box 533, 201 North Main Street, Sullivan IN., 47882.
