Elsie Louise (Reed) McClanahan

Elsie J. McClanahan 94, of Terre Haute, IN, long time resident of Shelburn, IN passed away on March 31, 2023, at the Wyndmoor Assisted Living Facility where she has resided for 2 years. Elsie was born on April 16, 1928, to Edward and Ruby (Plew) Reed. Elsie married Joe McClanahan and had two children Kathy McClanahan Elder and Richard McClanahan. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, spouse, daughter and two infant granddaughters Tina and Trina Elder. 

Survivors include her son Richard McClanahan of Linton, IN, grandsons Edward (Eddie) Elder of Terre Haute and Joe McClanahan of Ohio as well as granddaughter Angela Jones of Texas. She is also survived by a niece Mary (David) Oxendine of Sullivan, IN. 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Holmes Memorial Chapel Sullivan, IN. There will be no services per Elsie's request. 

Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and the Wyndmoor Assisted Living for all of the love and care provided to Elsie especially in these final weeks. Elsie would especially like to thank Dr Divyesh Purohit for all of his years of caring for Elsie as well as special thanks to Gentiva staff Steve Blaydes Chaplain, Kelley McMillen Social Worker, and Jackie Mattox, Ashley Spikes and Marie Batchelor hospice aides for the detail and attention spent making sure Elsie felt loved and cherished in her final months and days. You all were so loved. 

In lieu of flowers, Elsie asks that donations be made to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation 4122 S. 7th Street Terre Haute, IN to benefit future hospice patient needs.
