Evalyn Phegley

Evalyn Phegley, 88, of Sullivan passed on to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at her daughter’s residence with her loving family by her side.  She was born in Sullivan County on March 30, 1933, to Cecil and Goldie (Sinders) Pierce.  Evalyn attended Shelburn High School and was married to her late husband Marion “Pud” Phegley on July 23, 1949. She became a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and proud farm wife in the Carlisle area for many years.  She was a cook for the Southwest School Corporation for 28 years and a member of the Wabash Valley Community Church. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Marion “Pud” Phegley, and a daughter Cynthia Dunder, brothers Jack Pierce, Bob Pierce, Ronnie Pierce, Virgil Sinders, Darrell Pierce, and a sister Virginia Ayers. 

Survivors include her children Belinda (Donny) Morin, Carol (Ron) Monroe, Ellen (George) Birch, Don (Melinda) Phegley, Mark (Debbie) Phegley, Amy (Jeff) Porter, and Jenny (Monty) McKinley, a sister Marjorie Miller, a son in law Steve Dunder, a brother in-law Richard Ayers, two sister in-laws Carolyn McKinley and Carolyn Pierce, grandchildren Chad Morin, Mandy (Jessie) Cooley, Jesse (Kimberly) Morin, Barbara (Bryon) Montgomery, Sam Monroe, Allyson (Jamie) Hannum, Rebekah Dunder, Zachary Dunder, Daniel (Amanda) Birch, Caleb (Angela) Birch, Nathaniel (Jen) Birch, Josh Phegley, Jordan (Brittany) Phegley, Jonathan (Kelli) Phegley, Randy (Emily) Phegley, Jill (Jon) Arbo, Tyler (Jessica) Phegley, Tanner McCammon, Teneil McCammon, Holly Porter, Ben Porter, Jeff Porter, Abbey (Colt) Thompson, Josey McKinley, great grandchildren Alexandrea Morin, Gauge Cooley, Gracie Cooley, Katelyn Cooley, Hannah Morin, Jake Lance, Jared Montgomery, Shalyn Vrzina, Aidan Hannum, Riley Hannum, Titus Birch, Opal Birch, Ruth Birch, Johanna Birch, Zack Kirsch, Zion Birch, Phoenix Birch, Brylee Phegley, Noah Phegley, Isaac Phegley, Blake Phegley, Trace Phegley, Cameron Arbo, Emma Arbo, Gabe Arbo, Molly Arbo, Joseph Arbo, Hazel Arbo, Ellie Phegley, Lucy Phegley, Addie Phegley, Nevaeh McCammon, Joslyn McCammon, Aidan Richardson, Kloey Richardson, Gibson Farmer, Jason Woodson, Sophie Porter, Max Porter, and Henry Thompson, great great grandchildren BellaMae Vrzina, Raelynn Vrzina, and Rylee Stevens, several nieces, nephews, other extended family, and close friends.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at The Wabash Valley Community Church located at 3932 W. State Road 154, Sullivan, IN with Pastor Matt Hayes officiating.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.  Burial will be at Oddfellows Cemetery in Carlisle.  Holmes Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
