Floyd Willis, 90, of Sullivan passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sullivan County on May 6, 1929 to Roy Willis and Oqual (Blevins) Willis. Floyd was a 1946 graduate of New Lebanon High School, was a Farmer, had his own Trucking Company and was a School Bus Driver for the South West Sullivan County School Corporation. He was a 50 year member of the Carlisle Masonic Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, a Past Master, a member of the Eastern Star Sullivan Chapter, and had attended the New Lebanon United Methodist Church. Floyd loved horses, sports and attending his children's, and grandchildren's events. Preceding him in death are his parents, son Thomas Adren Willis, brother Bill Willis, sisters, Ruth Moore, Alice Christy, Patty Wheeler Crum and a great grandchild Jackson Pirtle.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years Mary (Borders) Willis whom he married on October 29, 1949. Sons: James (Mary) Willis of Sullivan, Jon (Karen) Willis of Sullivan. Daughters: Peggy (Bill) Hadar of Columbus IN, Connie (James) Martin of Birmingham AL. Sisters: Rachel Christy Daugherty of Sullivan, Barbara June Brown of Truth or Consequences NM. Grandchildren: Kelly Pirtle Hill, Michael Pirtle, Bill Hadar, Samuel Hadar, Elizabeth Fergurson, BJ Willis, Charity Shorter, Josh Willis, Jacob Willis, Zachary Willis, 9 great grandchildren and several other nieces, and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 27, 2019, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Revs. David Lisman and David Brown officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8:00 p.m. with Masonic services beginning at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family suggest that if friends so desire memorial contribution may be made to Elara Hospice or Comfort Keepers, envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
