Gary Lee Starkey

Gary Lee Starkey, 74, of Shelburn passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 9, 1947 in Farmersburg to his father and Rosa Lee (Bell) Starkey. Gary was a Vietnam combat Veteran of the US Army and had retired from the Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Leoma Southwood.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years Beverly "Susie" (Akers) Starkey, sons Doug (Debbra) Starkey, Thad (Jaclyn) Starkey, brothers JT (Janice) Starkey, Mike (Teresa) Starkey, Stanley (Sheila) Starkey, grandchildren Megan Richmond, Colton Starkey, Megan R. Byrer, Lucas Starkey, Lani Starkey, Jessica Dickerson, James Cole, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Services for Gary will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Shad Akers and Brock Black officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. Military Rights will be given by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. Burial will be at Little Flock Cemetery at a later date.
