Gloria Cooper, 75, of Sullivan passed away on Thursday July 30, 2020 at her residence with her companion by her side. She was born in Sullivan County on October 10, 1944 to John Henry Pirtle and Flora May (Bedwell) Pirtle. She was a life long resident of Sullivan County, cleaned houses, loved going to yard sales, antique collecting but her most enjoyable past time was spending time with her family and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Johnny Paul Akers, a daughter Tammy Jean Akers, and a brother Robert Pirtle.
Survivors include her companion Jay Howard, a son Tommy Edward Akers, a daughter Tracey Jo (Mike) Richardson, brothers, Billy (Rosetta) Pirtle, John Pirtle, Jimmy (Robin) Pirtle, Raymond Pirtle, sisters, Mable Walters, Jo McCammon, Mary (Dwayne) Pirtle, Sandy (Terry) Arnett, grandchildren Jeremy Bedwell, Kaleb (Heather) Akers, Kalyn Akers, Jenea’ Richardson, Colten Richardson, Kyle Akers, great grandchildren, Rhyder Flowers, Marlee Rogers, Leighton Akers, Riverlyn Akers, several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 4, 2020 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery. The family suggest that in lieu of flower memorial contributions may be made to help with expenses, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Masks are required to keep in compliance with current conditions.
