Harold G. “Archie” Blair Jr., 92, of Terre Haute, Indiana, died September 22, 2021 at Breckenridge Health & Rehabilitation in Sullivan, Indiana.
Archie was born August 10, 1929, in Terre Haute, Indiana, a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Welch) Blair. He was the oldest of 7 siblings. On September 16, 1951, he married Roberta Jean Long. They were married for 51 years until her death in 2002.
He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator from 1951 to 1953. He was employed by Pfizer for over 43 years. He was a member of both the Terre Haute and Indiana Amateur Softball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon McGee of Terre Haute; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Beverly Blair of Sullivan; three grandchildren, Kris (Claire) Blair, Matt (Kristin) Blair, and Sarah (Brian) Lewis; and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Richard (Pam) Blair of Johnson City, TN; a sister, Darlene Pinegar of Terre Haute, and extended family.
Cremation is planned. There will be no visitation service. There will be a private memorial service held for the family at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green. Holmes Memorial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. The family thanks the caregivers at Breckenridge Commons and Breckenridge Health & Rehab for their efforts in caring for Archie.
