Herschell Coats

Herschell Coats, 94, of Sullivan passed away on Tuesday March 3, 2020 at Breckenridge Nursing Home.  He was born in Indianapolis on January 18, 1926 to Herschell Coats Sr. and Mary Jane (Blevins) Coats.  Herschell was a US Navy Veteran and served in WWII. After returning home he became an electrician and had married Loretta in 1949 and they celebrated 65 years together. He enjoyed helping people with their projects, fishing, woodworking, and yard-work. Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, and a brother Tom. 

Survivors include his son Jeff  (Jennie) Coats of Carlisle, daughters Cathy (Gary) Bryant of Mooresville, Mary (Jerry) Lish of Bedford, a sister Emma Doyle of Indianapolis, 8  grandchildren 13, great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Services to celebrate Herschell’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 14, 2020 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle.
