James Burns Obituary

James Michael “Mike” Burns, 70, of Prairie Creek, passed away at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on Thursday February 4, 2021. He was born in Sullivan County to James William Burns and Helen Marie (Keller) Burns. James was a 1970 graduate of North Central High School, was employed at IMC Chemical, and retired from the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. James loved horses, motorcycles, and his corvette. The most important things to James was his family, his faith in God; having attended Church of the Living Faith in Prairie Creek and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his parents, his wife of 50 years,Treva (Hunt) Burns whom he married June 6, 1970, a daughter Jayme Hughes and her companion Joe Hewitt of Terre Haute, brothers Dave (Jerry) Burns of Brazil, Paul (Carolyn) Burns of Terre Haute, and grandchildren Robert James RJ Hughes, Prairie Creek Ariel (Thomas) Raab of Brazil.

There are no services planned at this time but a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Holmes Memorial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements.
