James Vansant

Graysville

James L. VanSant, 85, of Graysville, IN passed away at his home on December 19, surrounded by his caring family he treasured so much. James was born in Jasonville, IN on August 13, 1938 to his parents Dorence VanSant and Doris Shepler VanSant.  Aside from his love for his family he was a proud member of The U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam as well as being a member of Shelburn Christian Church and belonging to The Rinky Dinks Golf Club. Being in the construction trade he also belonged to Local Union #204.

Family survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Mary Sue Jewell VanSant, son, Mark VanSant (Carole), daughters, Tracey Lankhaar (John), Andrea Whiteman (Randy), Amy Hale, and Jill Shaffer (Chad) and sisters, Jeannie Gore (John), Denise VanSant and Valrie Drake (Larry), sisters-in-law, Pricilla VanSant and Becka Chickadaunce Mr. VanSant was also grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dorence and Doris VanSant, brothers, Bob VanSant, Robert E. VanSant, sister, Barbara Hughes, and great-grandchild, Julian Mast.

Likewise the family wants to recognize and give appreciation to the following for their support during this time: Shelburn Christian Church, Southern Care Hospice and to his caring, long time caregiver Terry Gilreath.

Respectfully, Rev Barney LaFollette, will officiate a private family memorial service at a later date.
