Jerry Carolyn (Shouse) Baker 85 of Sullivan, Indiana took her last breathe on this earth on September 14, 2020. Jerry was born in Vincennes, Indiana to Viola Christine and Carroll E. Shouse joining her older brother, James Wallace Shouse. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes, in 1953. Jerry Carolyn married Jerry Allyn Baker of Wheatland, Indiana on August 8, 1954. They became known as “The Jerrys”. She enjoyed her life at home being a wife and mother and loved her family dearly. She was a volunteer with Hospice of the Wabash Valley and Union Hospital. She kept a spotless house. Faith, family and friends were most important in her life. You could often find her praying, reading her Bible and studying God’s word. She had a way of making you feel like she was just waiting for you to arrive in their home with fresh baked goodies, a glass of iced tea or a fresh cup of coffee. Her hands prepared many meals for those in need. “The Jerrys” were members and served at Union Christian Church in Terre Haute, Indiana for many, many years. You could find her rocking babies in the nursery, cooking meals in the kitchen and always ready to help clean up. She gave the best hugs and her infectious smile would light up the room. She and Mr. Jerry spent several years camping and traveling with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years and her four children, James “Bert” and Lynette Baker of Sullivan, Indiana, Janna and Tony Guyer of West York, Illinois, Joseph and Michell Baker of Ellis Grove, Illinois, and Julie and Jerry Dusenberry of Monticello, Illinois, 21 grandchildren as well as 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way, three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, a sister-in-law and two nieces.
