Joseph Criss, of Carlisle, formerly of Merom, passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Washington IN on September 1, 1936 to John Criss and Alma (Thompson) Criss. He attended Merom High School, joined the Navy and returned home to work at Pfizer. Joe was a member of Merom Assembly of God, then went to The Carlisle Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking but most important to him was his family. Preceding him in death was his parents, his brothers, Marion Dink Criss, Marvin Matthew Criss, Kenneth Criss, sisters Betty Wells and Deborah Oakes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years Sandra Kaye (Robbins) Criss, whom he married on November 23, 1957; a son Randy (Arletha) Criss of Petersburg, a daughterCindy (John) Phegley of Carlisle, grandchildren James Criss, Joseph Criss, Tim Phegley, Holli Adkins, seven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Grave side services will be 1:00 p.m. at the Merom Cemetery on Monday August 17, 2020 with Rev. Erich Blevins officiating. Military services will be given by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. Holmes Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
