Larry Hayes, 77, of Shelburn passed away on Monday January 18, 2021 at Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born in Point Pleasant WV., to James Gomer Hayes and Sarah Elizabeth (Cassell) Hayes. He was a 1961 graduate of North Central High School, was in the Army Reserve and a Farmer. He also was employed in construction and retired from Indiana American Water Company. He attended the Evangelical Methodist Church in Sullivan, loved to hunt, fish and be in the great outdoors. The things that Larry will be remembered for was the love for his family and playing Bluegrass Music. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Jividen, and a brother in-law Bob Vansant.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Linda (Barden) Hayes whom he married on November 3, 1978, his children Andrea (Randy) Whiteman, Amy Hale, Chad (Leslie) Sluder, Colleen (Robin) Overton, brothers James (Kathy) Hayes, Butch (Debbie) Hayes, Boyd (Sharon) Hayes, a sister Priscilla Van Sant, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces nephews and other family and friends.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday January 23, 2021 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Bailey officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery Military services will be given by the Sullivan County Honor guard.
