LeRoy Cooprider, 84, of Farmersburg, passed from his earthly home to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 16, 2022 at his home that he and his wife built together. He was born on the family farm in Clay County on December 24, 1937 to Alfred Cooprider and Edith (Rector) Cooprider. LeRoy attended Coalmont High School, ran the family farm and had become a refrigeration engineer for Pfizer. He had been a faithful member of the Farmersburg Fire Department for over 50 years and still was an honorary member to this day. He was on the board of directors for the Thunderbird Fire Territory. He was a member of the Farmersburg Community Church in Farmersburg.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his loving wife whom he married on June 28, 1959, Sandra Sue (Drake) Cooprider, his siblings and their spouses, Norma (Jack) Snellenburger, Mary (Raymond) Barcus, Wilma (Gene) Husband, William “Bill” (Hilda) Cooprider, brother in-laws Gerald Drake, John Drake, sister in-law Rita (Roberson) Drake, and his mother and father in-law Jack Geraldine Drake.
Survivors include his son Darwin (Annette) Cooprider, his daughter Peggy Sue (Bob) Morrison, grandchildren Daniel (Danielle) Morrison, Emily (Patrick) Lovellette, Hollyann Cooprider, Sarah Cooprider and five great grandchildren, special friend Nancy Lewis, several nieces nephews and other extended family and many close friends.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 21, 2022 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Eddie Myers officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery.
