Marilyn Ruth (Mason) Hollifield

Marilyn Ruth Mason Hollifield, age 70, went home to be with Jesus on November, 12, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born to William L. and Betty Mason on July 15, 1952, in Sullivan, IN. Marilyn met her husband, the love of her life, Roger Hollifield on the Sullivan square in July of 1970. After just 3 months of dating, they married on October 2, 1970. The recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William L. and Betty Mason, brother Max, and grandbaby Reed. She is survived by her husband Roger Hollifield of Sullivan; her children, Maranda and Donnie Stalcup of Sullivan, Raji and Dena Hollifield of Carlisle, and Meleah and Scott Reed of Terre Haute; her siblings, Brenda and Larry Miller of Sullivan, Rosetta and Bill Pirtle of Sullivan, Peggy Hines of Sullivan, and Rocky and Vicki Mason of Sullivan; grandchildren Bailee, Sydnee, Kai, Claire, Jurnee, Ryder, and Sawyer; and several other extended family members.

Marilyn dedicated her life to many others working as a certified nurses’ aide at Millers Merry Manor for 25 years. She was an active member of Abundant Grace House of Prayer and always loved listening to praise and worship music. 

Marilyn was full of sass and charm. She loved her family like no other. She had such a love and devotion toward her family speaking to them at least daily. Marilyn left her family a gift of cherished memories that she had captured throughout the years by writing them in her bible. Anyone who ever encountered Marilyn soon came to realize that she was full of life and laughter that was infectious to everyone around her. Even though she battled sickness for a long while, the Joy of the Lord was her strength. She was a living example of what a mother, wife, grandmother, friend, and child of God should look like.

The family would like to say thank you to Kindred Hospice and all of her other caregivers over the last several years.

Services for Marilyn will be held at Abundant Grace House of Prayer 761 IN-154 , Sullivan, IN at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday November 17, 2022, with Tommy Pearison and Tracy Hamilton officiating.  Visitation will be held at Holmes Memorial Chapel 642 W Silver St, Sullivan, IN on Wednesday, November 16 from 4-8:00 p.m.  Graveside committal will be held at Oak Grove Cemetary, Wilfred, IN immediately following the service.
