Martha (Hamilton) Pierson

Martha “Marty” Hamilton Pierson, 90, of Sullivan, passed away on Monday,  August 23, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Sullivan County on August 1, 1931, to John Hamilton and Leliah (Carrithers) Hamilton.  She was a 1949 graduate of Sullivan High School, married her husband, Bill on March 4, 1951, and together they started their family.  She loved to be outside taking care of their yard and being with her family and neighbors.  She had been a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Bill in 2014; brothers, Thomas Hamilton, John “Bo” Hamilton; sisters,  Ann Fagg, and Alice “Polly” Nickeson.

Survivors include her sons, PJ Pierson and his wife, Karen, of Evansville, John Patrick of Sullivan; her daughter, Suzanne Gilham and her husband, JR of Sullivan; grandchildren, Lincoln (Suzanne) Pierce, Marie Pierson, Billy Pierson, Ana Pierson, Bri (Stacey) Gilham, Lela Earley, Carrie (Patrick) Duff; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father John Pfister officiating.  Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery.

Holmes Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
