Mary Melcine Deal

Melcine Deal 85, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away on November 9th 2022 at Envive Healthcare of Sullivan. Melcine was born in Buckskin, IN, on October 18, 1937, she daughter of Herbert and Mary Lois Geis. She was a Graduate of Elberfeld High School and Deaconess Hospital School of nursing in 1958. She was a Registered Nurse for over 64 yrs. Melcine married Noble H. Deal Jr. on October 4, 1958. She retired from Millers Merry Manor in 2000 as Director of Nursing as many people will a test “ the best boss ever”. Melcine helped organize the first Sullivan County Relay for Life, and was instrumental in the organization of “Our Father's Arms food pantry” and volunteered there for many years. She attended Who So Ever Will church in Dugger until her health prevented. Melcine had the gift of encouragement and enjoyed writing cards and letters. Above all her accomplishments she most loved being a mother. Preceding her in death are her husband Noble Deal, Grandson Jacob Logan Meier, and Brother Eddie Geis.

Surviving are their 5 children, Dawn (Tim) Clark of Sullivan, Mark (Kathy) Deal of Shelburn, Matthew (Dawn) Deal of Graysville, Tracey (Dennis) Miles of Shelburn, and Michelle Leigh of Sullivan. A brother Steve (Becky) Geis,of Newburgh, sister in-law Linda Geis, of Evansville, Grandchildren Katie (Mike) Rodgers, John Alexander, Chad Deal, Rebekah (Joe) Powell, Justin (Ashley) Deal, Jenna (Greg) Hay, Jay Miles, Whitney and Grant Leigh. Great Grandchildren Shaelyn, Chandler and Lainey Rodgers, Lilly Alexander, Kaylee, Landyn and Gunner Deal Aubree Collins, Bella Lochbaum, Gracelynn and Marty Hay. Great great grandchild, Rylen Risley, and several nieces, a nephew and other family and friends. 

Funeral Services will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2022 at Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan, IN.  Visitation will be from  4-6 p.m.  Officiants Tommy Pearison, David Cox , and Tim Clark In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Fathers Arms food pantry Sullivan, IN, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
