Maurine Agnes Blakeman Gambill, 103, of Sullivan passed away on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at Millers Merry Manor. She was born in Paxton on January 12, 1918 to George and Adelaide (Brown) Blakeman. She was a 1935 graduate of Carlisle High School, and employed at REMC for 35 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Missionary Unit One, Professional Women’s Club and Woman of the year in 1980, Sullivan County Garden Club, The American Association of Retired Persons and the Sullivan County Historical Society (Life Member). Maurine was the Grand Marshall of the Sullivan County Corn Festival in 2009. She was was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil Gambill, his children Harold, Mildred, Evelyn, Wilma, Wendell, Ervin and baby Sylvan, grandchildren, Jean Gambill, Gary Gambill and a great grandson Rob Pitts.
Surviving are his grandchildren, Ted Gambill, Suzie Babcock, Lela Street, Jerry Thornberry, Beverly Wasserburger, Janis Lynch, Peggy Holland, Alice Shorter, Bobbi Noel, Paulette Staggs, Steve Fisk, Kathy Gambill, Harold’s second wife Nancy Gambill, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other family members
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday June 5, 2021 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Cox officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
