Nancy Joanne (Drinkard) Hayes

Nancy Joanne (Drinkard) Hayes, 84, of Sullivan, passed away at home on Sunday April 9, 2023. She was born in New Albany IN, to William Wayne and Lois Wanda (Pierce) Drinkard on March 19, 1939. She married the love of her life, Charles Ray Hayes September 3,1955. Nancy dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She  loved spending  her leisure time fishing with her husband, working in her flowers and plants along with going to yard sales. She loved staying in touch with her lifelong friends, with long telephone conversations, while enjoying a hot cup of coffee.  She always had a pot of coffee on at ALL times, this past week’s storm was coming and she made sure she had a pot of coffee, just in case of a power outage. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Ray Hayes; her parents, William Wayne and Lois Wanda Drinkard; siblings, Edward Wayne Drinkard, Donald Lee Drinkard, Dennis R. Drinkard and Rebecca Sue (Drinkard) Smith.

 Surviving her are her children, Steven Ray Hayes (Suzanne Keller), Jeffery Wayne Hayes; daughters, Amanda Jo (Jake) Thatcher, Misty (Matt) Grimes and Mindy Leigh Hayes; grandchildren, Taylor Cameron Stuart, Thomas Ray Edwards, Miranda Stone and Lee Stone; great grandchild , Memphis Ray; several nieces and nephews along with close friends by whom she will be  greatly missed.

Graveside services will be Thursday April 13, 2023 at 1:00 pm. at  Johnson Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Hayes officiating. 

Holmes Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
